A very interesting article about the making of the new upcoming game franchise Assassin's Creed IV. I found it interesting in terms of design and animation and the long and complex process. Also interesting were the artistic processes and the number of different programs used for animating the game. Different programs were used for animating different materials and mark makings . Pro-work with a huge expectation.

I've chosen this work because I really like how the captions a real life authentic situations and people. He does this through his journeys for example this is for the XXI magazine. He traveled through Iran following a long truck journey across the country. Whilst traveling he takes tons of reference photos with small camera but also makes many notes and very rough sketches. The images are often created when he returns back to London . The artist starts a layout and composition though all his photos and uses them as reference to draw from. The pieces are originally hand drawn and later scanned it and digitally inked.I find this way of working very handy and inspiring as all of his work is based on personal experience.

I really liked this illustration especially because of the multiple imagery it. It's this artists trademark to have a silhouettes in solid color blocks. In particular this picture creates an image of Jesus. However its build on two hand raising a figure's arms up just like for crucifixion standing on some sort of bridge shape. All these under images are related to the character and the whole picture effect. It's a very convenient and clever way of working. I'd say that the ideology and design re very thought through. Especially the eyes created from hands which are a reference to a religious painting by Michelangelo - The Creation of Adam. Also the crucifix cross figure which obviously represents Jesus's crucifixion but could also relate to the massive statue of Jesus in Rio De Janairo
Understanding 2D and Visual Communication
The 4 disciplines within 2D are Illustration, Textiles, Graphic Design and Animation.
Illustration
I think that Illustration has the broadest and widest range as it's used everywhere. We can see illustrations in children's books to start with how ever they are a lot more complex in other backgrounds as character designs for film games toys etc... I think that Illustration is a key element to anything art related, whether it's 2D or 3D.
Textiles
I think that textiles is anything fabric material based used in creative industries. Obviously it is the life and soul of fashion that's a massive part of our lives. However textiles doesn't always have to be in 3D form as it can be used in art with overlaying different materials to create colleague paintings. Canvas is a textile material that is the most important thing for painters. I think that textiles and fashion differ in the sense that in textiles people are more encouraged to work onto the fabrics with painting and printing where as fashion is more about putting the textiles together in order to create a piece of clothing.
Graphic Design
Just as textiles and fashion graphic design is also in our everyday life without us even realizing it. From packaging to logo's , posters, billboards , magazines and books and much more. Graphic Design is really broad just probably because it undertakes a lot of different disciplines as it could involve a little bit of textile but most definitely illustration. It plays a huge roles in today's society and is also dependent on technology. The better the technology the more amazing effects we are able to achieve with programs like Photoshop or others. Graphic Design has became very important part of modern business and its success depends on it.
Animation
From all the disciplines I find this one the most interesting as it creates an illusion of life. Animation is one to hand with illustration and graphic design in order to create composition and frames of pictures with narrative. Good drawing skills and computer skills are often required while making animations. I was making animations myself in my free time in the past using the Macromedia Flash program and I really enjoyed it. Especially because it allowed my creative visions become visually real.

Articulate
This is my response to a task we carried out in the week of 3D-section. The task was consitant of recievieving a word and create a work relevant to the particular word. My word was "Articulate" and I created this work as my response that word. I was mainly focused on articulations, the movement of lips and shapes they create while pronauncing specific letters. In addition I also combined it with the technical element of having joins or joint segments creating some sort of a chain. This would relate to the ability to speak fluently and coherently as in this work each segment symbolises a lip in a specific mouth shape. These mouth shapes represent letters based on observation and researcher of the mouth movement. They are all joined together in order to created a spelling of a word, the word I was given, articulate. Also it is arranged in a systematic order so it reads from top to bottom with segments under each other and from left to right with segments next to each other.
This work was created with processes of cutting, creasing and scoring paper with a little use of staples to create and maintain the shapes. The segments were joined together with stitches.
